With nearly 200 public golf courses ranging from surf side links to desert oases, Oregon attracts traveling foursomes by the thousands to test their skills against the world’s greatest architects… and good old Mother Nature.

Tetherow Golf Club opened to critical acclaim in 2008. Tetherow is a Scottish links course in the middle of the Central Oregon high desert. It is as challenging – but fair – as it is unique. It’s a true links test with wide rolling fairways and knobs and knolls and lava rock that send your ball wayward as often as they send it exactly where you want it to go. They now have a newly opened hotel just off the faded fescues of the links-style Kidd design.

Jack Nicklaus’ Signature Course at Pronghorn ranks No. 130 on Golf Digests’ list of the top 200 golf courses in America. Pronghorn sits about 15 minutes from Bend and offers 36 holes of awe-inspiring golf.

And of course, there is Bandon Dunes. Bandon Dunes is true to the spirit of Scotland’s ancient links. Sweeping, untamed shores stretch for miles. Primeval grassy dunes roll to the sea. Five distinctly different courses have been conceived in harmony with the natural environment.

There is so much on offer in Oregon. They have no sales tax so do a little shopping. Their wine industry is world-renowned and boasts 17 approved wine growing regions (or appellations) enabling both warm and cool weather varietals to thrive. And Oregon’s food scene is worth exploring; craft beer, microdistilleries, handcrafted sea salt, ice-cream, cheese, chocolate and this list continues.

Let’s discuss the possibilities.
